HOUSESHARE RULES
MARY, THE DOMESTIC LADY FOR THE HOUSE WILL CLEAN ON MONDAYS & FRIDAYS
I AM CONTINUOUSLY SHOWING THE HOUSE TO PERSONAL FRIENDS, NEW RESIDENTS AND/OR THEIR PARENTS SO WOULD APPRECIATE THE HOUSE BEING KEPT TIDY AT ALL TIMES.
1. Tell all your friends visiting or sleeping over - that the charge is R100,00pn, payable upfront. When visiting, to park their cars in the parking bays. I will be parking my Blue Diahatsu Terios on the righthand side of the parking bay at the entrance to the house. I leave for work at 9:00am and would like to reverse out the gates unobstructed by other cars.
2. Want to bring a coupla friends around and make dinner or have a braai/barbeque? Please make sure that when finished, you have cleaned, washed and packed away everything that same evening before you go to sleep. Tell your friends to help you. They will understand.
3. No smoking is allowed in the bedrooms AT ALL. It makes holes in bedding which you will have to replace at your own cost .... AND it makes your room stink. Smoking is allowed at the Poolside Blues Bar or anywhere outside the house.
4. Jos will be Barman at The ‘Poolside Blues Bar’ which will serve drinks every Friday, Saturday or Sunday at R10,00 each for beers and R15,00 for a white spirits & mix.
5. This house is self-catering and therefore I will ask for an extra R30,00 every month from all residents. This will ensure that there will ALWAYS be soap, toilet paper, clothes pegs, Dettol, HandyAndy, washing liquid, cleaning sponges, jik, dish washing towels, bathroom air-freshener, black bags etc.
6. You are responsible to clean your room once a week as well as change your own bedding, when necessary. A broom, sponge broom, bucket and cleaning materials, are provided for you to use anytime. This you can find under the kitchen sink.
7. A coin-operated washing machine is available in the laundry room. Please supply your own washing powder and softener. A load of washing will cost you R5 coins x 7 = R35,00.
8. I will not be held responsible for any loss, damages or personal injury that may be suffered or incurred within this house or any room by any occupant and/or his or her visitor/s, irrespective of whether such loss, damages or personal injury is caused by fire, storm, riot, civil commotion, theft, robbery, accident or, without limitation, other cause whatsoever.
9. IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER :: The sliding door remote keys must be used to open and close ONLY when you are at the front of the gate and not when you are 100metres away from the house. I could be driving out the gate and you could be closing it at the same time.
10. You DO NOT open the sliding security gates to anyone hooting outside. Your friends must give you a ‘missed call’ from outside the gate for you to then use your remote to open-up.
11. Think of the other person making food after you. Very important to remember for the rest of your life and it makes kitchen cleaning so much easier is if (while you are cooking) to clean up, wash up & dry as you go along. When cooking, there’s always crumbs, onion skins, potato peels etc that falls on the floor so please, use the sponge broom to clean up. If you leave the kitchen floor dirty, you are walking the dirt right into your own room and the rest of the house.
12. The kitchen must be left spotless before you sit down to eat your meal - so that the next person can use it immediately ... then all you have to do after eating, is wash your own plate, dry it and pack it away. Easy!!!
13. Use the broom/sponge or scoop/brush if you notice the floors are dirty at any time. It is provided for everyone to use, when needed.
14. During the week, please be considerate with the noise level inside the house (other students & young professionals live here too). Please do not wake up the neighbours!!! They’re very quick to call the Police.
15. The kitchen trellidor must be kept locked at ALL times and its key hung up on the inside of the kitchen door. Same goes for the front door key. Only the residents know where it is hanging up.
16. Please make sure that at all times, there are four (4) green plastic chairs around the green plastic table under the small lapa.
17. Please bring in your glasses, ashtrays etc back into the kitchen inside when you are finished sitting and enjoying the outside garden. Please wash and pack away.
18. The dish drying cloths are in your kitchen not to wipe the counter or clean the mess on your floor but used only to dry your wet dishes etc after washing them.
19. Please only use the big sponge provided in the kitchen to clean counter tops and in the bathroom, to clean the basin & bath.
20. The Municipal truck comes past the house every Wednesday morning, so please throw all your room and kitchen rubbish out on a Tuesday evening. It’s SO much easier if everyone notices that when the rubbish bags are full in the kitchen, to please on your way out of the front or back door each day, to throw it into the 3 Municipal bins on the side of the house.
21. Try and have short showers to enable everyone to have theirs too. It’s recommended that some students/young professionals have their short showers in the morning and some in the evening.
22. Please keep both bathroom floors dry after your bath or shower. There is a sponge provided to mop up the wet floor. The bathroom mats need to be shaken inside the bath and bath washed with the handshower and the mat, put back on the floor.
23. If you have finished watching TV or just lounging around on the couches, just make sure that the cushions are all put back neatly - the way you found it.
24. If you are finished watching a DVD, please put the TV back to AV2 so that the channel is on TV and not on ‘No reception’.
25. Before vacating your room after your stay here at this residence, please make sure that there are no marks or stains left on the white feather pillows or duvet inners. Should there be any stains, a cost of R50,00 will be taken off your deposit. The same goes for your duvet covers, if there are any cigarette burns or tearing.
26. Please switch off the lights when you are not using them and make sure ALL the lights are off before you go to work or bedroom to sleep.
27. I will not be held responsible for anything gone missing from your room. I urge you to ALWAYS keep your doors closed and/or locked at all times.
28. NO animals are allowed in your bedrooms. They leave hair EVERYWHERE and if there are fleas in your room, you will be held responsible and liable to get a Pest Control company to fumigate it at your own cost.
29. Each student is to have their own individual compartment in the fridge - the same goes for your cupboard in the kitchen and same in the bathroom.
30. There are 10 of every utensil in the kitchen = 10 glasses, 10 plates, 10 knives etc. If there are any missing or broken, you have to replace the following day please.
"PLEASE RESPECT MY THINGS" = MUCH APPRECIATED!!
